Let’s be honest– Working from home creates a lot of temptation to drink wine and watch Netflix. After all, the couch looks so comfortable! With that being said, staying motivated is super difficult when you’re home all day. However, it is possible to stay motivated when you just want to drink wine and binge Netflix. In this blog post, we’re going to show you how!

Get Plenty of Sleep

When we were all getting dressed up to go to work, it used to be an everyday norm. However, now that companies are prioritizing remote work, the dress code has gotten a little lax. This is completely understandable, because who doesn’t want to work in sweatpants? But, this can make you feel as though you’re having a lazy day. When you’re in your pajamas, your mind can trick you into wanting to relax, despite your lengthy to-do list. So, try to get a little more dressed up when feeling unmotivated. Granted, you don’t have to get in your work suit, but try to put on a blouse and some jeans. And don’t worry, you don’t have to whip out your heels (unless you want to).

Clearly Define Your Goals

If you’re reading this blog post, you’re likely a goal-getter, considering you’re upset about your lack of motivation. So, make sure you clearly define your goals! Where do you want to be in your career in 10 years? What about within the next few months? When do you want to finish that big project of yours? Whatever you want to achieve in the future, write it down! This will help keep you focused on your future achievements, thus keeping you motivated. Then, the next time you want to turn on Netflix and pop a cork, you’ll remember why you’re working so hard.

Organize Your Workspace

The stay at home initiative took most people by surprise. For those who had no at-home workspace, they quickly had to get organized. If you are yet to do this, then get started! Take a half-day or set aside your Saturday to get organized. You can even do this during those conference calls where you just dial in to be there (don’t worry, we won’t tell!). Recycle any unnecessary papers, donate the items you never use, and put up some cute decor. And, don’t forget, print out and frame some inspirational quotes to motivate you. Use Blue Light Blocking Glasses

Sometimes, a lack of motivation can come from eye strain. Normally, we can take computer breaks during meetings or watercooler conversations. But now, we’re staring at our screens for eight hours at a time as we have virtual meetings with minimal breaks. Staring at your computer all day can make your eyes burn and ache because of the screen’s blue light. The only thing that makes your eyes feel better is getting away from your screen and taking a nap. Thankfully, there are blue light glasses to prevent these symptoms! Blue light blocking glasses can help you stay motivated as they prevent eye strain. You will be able to crush your eight-hour workday, with no headache.

It’s not easy to stay motivated when working from home. If you just want to drink wine and binge Netflix every day, you’re not alone. We’re all doing our best to push through a lack of motivation from how cozy our homes feel. Just stay focused on your goals, put on your game face, and get organized!
